ELECTION DAY TURKEY DINNER: The Valley Falls United Methodist Church hosts a turkey and biscuit dinner on Election Day, November 7. The menu includes turkey and gravy on biscuits and mashed potatoes, vegetables, coleslaw, cranberry sauce, pickles, and assorted pies. There will be sittings at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. and takeout meals available after 5 p.m. Tickets are $12. for adults, $5 for ages 6-10, and free for age 5 and under. ELECTION DAY ZITI DINNER: St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, located at 600 State Street, (Corner of Lafayette and State Streets), Schenectady, will hold its 12th Annual Election Day Ziti Dinner on Tuesday, November 7, in the Church hall. Please use the Lafayette Street entrance to the hall. Servings will be from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the donation is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12 years of age. The donation includes ziti and meatballs, salad, rolls and butter, dessert and coffee or tea. Cold drinks will be available for a nominal donation. EMPAC: Ali Moini will perform the U.S. premiere of his 2009 solo dance “My Paradoxial Knives” while in residence at EMPAC to develop his new work “Intentions.” Drawing on Persian cultural tradition, Moini’s performance includes 13th century Sufi poetry by Rumi and movements reminiscent of the whirling dervish, while his costume diverges from tradition by being made of straps connecting metal knives to his body. On Friday, November 10, the Fort Plain Museum will hold a book release & signing reception for “Citizen Soldier: The Revolutionary War Journal of Joseph Bloomfield,” edited by Mark Edward Lender and James Kirby Martin.
