NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. » Republican Town Supervisor Lou Desso is grateful that the contentious election season is over, and that he was successful in his bid for a second two-year term over Democratic candidate Ronald Sinico.

“I really believe that the results of this election were a reflection of the hard work and the positive changes that are occurring in our town,” said Desso. “My op- ponent tried to take the focus off of those positive changes, tried to take the focus off the budget and the people that the budget impacts, which is a tremendous disservice to our residents that is unacceptable.”

Desso said he wanted to run again for a second term so that he and members of his administration could continue to make positive changes for the town and its residents.

Prior to serving his first-term as town supervisor, Desso served eight years on the Town Board.

“I think the Town Board has demonstrated that it is an achievable goal to maintain and decrease taxes without cutting services to residents,” said Desso. “I am committed to continue the spending reform that we started in 2008.”

The 2018 town budget, submitted by Desso and his administration included a 3 percent tax cut, Desso said he has several shortterm goals during his next twoyear term.

“We will continue the promotion of real estate projects and ad- ditional services to broaden our tax base and relieve our taxpayers,” said Desso. “We will continue to oversee the development of the shopping plaza at Van Rensselaer Square; we are committed to seeking additional funding from the State and Federal Governments to help improve our local infrastructure”.

Desso said his administration will also continue to oversee the construction of the intersection safety improvements at Route 4 and Bloomingrove Drive.

“These improvements were provided by a $2.1 million federal grant,” said Desso. “We will also oversee the $1 million grant we received to create bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements along the Route 4 corridor from HVCC to Route 43.”

Desso said that he will also work to expand any current green spaces within the town and will also continue to work to expand youth programs in the town along with other community events for residents to enjoy.

The supervisor said that he is looking forward to being able to serve another term.

“I’ve been dedicated to serving the residents of North Greenbush for the last 10 years, with the last two being as the town supervisor,” said Desso. “I am proud of the many great accomplishments we have achieved over that time, and I pledged to take the utmost care with the confidence placed in me by the North Greenbush residents so our town can realize its unlimited potential and continue to provide our residents with the high quality of life they deserve and have become accustomed to.”
