EAST SIDE SENIORS CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON:The East Side Seniors’ Christmas luncheon will be on December 19 at Paolo Lombardi’s, Wynantskil­l. CHRISTMAS PARTY: On December 9 the Town of Pittstown Seniors are having a family style Turkey dinner at the Pittstown Volunteer Emergency Corps hall located on Parker School road in Pittstown. COHOES ROTARY CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT: In 2004The Rotary Club of Cohoes started a collectibl­e series of Christmas ornaments featuring historic landmarks in the City of Cohoes. This year’s ornament design is Erie Canal Locks 13and 14in Cohoes. The 2017orname­nt is the third in the slim design series. Cost for the ornaments is $15. LIGHT-A-LIFE: The Community Hospice hosts its first-ever “Light-A-Life” Memorial Christmas Tree Lighting on Saturday, December 2, at 5p.m. at 295Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer. With your gift of $25, a holiday memorial tag with your loved one’s name will be hung on the tree at the tree lighting ceremony. Tags may be purchased in advance or at the event. All funds raised will benefit local grief and bereavemen­t programs and support services for local hospice patients and their families. Anyone who has lost a friend of loved one is welcome to witness the tree lighting, free of charge. FOOD FOR FINES: During November 2017the Mechanicvi­lle Library will accept a food item for each Mechanicvi­lle fine on your card. For example, if you have three fines on your card, you need to bring in three food items. Food items needed: canned vegetables, peanut butter, tuna, pasta, coffee, soup, cereal, baby food. Fines from other libraries, replacemen­t costs, and collection agency fees cannot be waived. Even if you do not have fines, you are still encouraged to donate. TEN BROECK HOLIDAY HOUSE: The Ten Broeck Mansion is a 219year old Federal style home that was built by Abraham Ten Broeck and his wife Elizabeth Van Rensselaer, and is lovingly preserved by the Albany County Historical Associatio­n. During the holiday season volunteer decorators from around the Capital region transform the home into a holiday wonderland. The decorating theme this year is “The Gift of Christmas.” The Holiday House at the Ten Broeck Mansion will begin Thursday, November 16, and will continue through December 16. Many activities are planned including the Third Annual Gala on November 16at Angelo’s 677Prime in Albany. Also planned are an open house, a tea, children’s story hour, two musical performanc­es, two lectures, and the popular Candleligh­t Tour. Each session includes a half-hour lesson, plus half-hour practice with US Figure Skating Qualified Instructor­s.
