Troy Night Out gets in the holiday spirit.

Monthly event to take on Black Friday theme

TROY, N.Y.>> Troy Night Out starts early this month, providing an entire day of shopping, dining and exploring in downtown Troy.

Event-goers are encouraged to get out and about as early as they’d like Friday and stay late to support local and shop small businesses in Troy.

November’s Troy Night Out coincides with Black Friday, welcoming people to work off their hearty Thanksgivi­ng meals and kick off the holiday shopping season.

“This is the season where Troy shines,” said Katie Hammon, executive director of the Downtown Troy Business Improvemen­t District, in a news release. “With over 120 unique boutiques, bars and restaurant­s, Troy is a destinatio­n for all your holiday shopping needs. Feel the warmth of supporting local, while enjoying the company of friends and family in Troy’s walkable downtown.”

Troy ‘ Day’ Out begins at 8 a.m. at ACE Hardware of Troy, which is offering a chance to win a Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer with every $10 spent.

BellaV Boutique will also be taking as much as 40 percent off prices for its trendy contem- porary clothing and accessorie­s. Aurora’s Boutique offers vintage one- of-a-kind finds, while Truly Rhe, Topsy Curvy Boutique and The Counties of Ireland will be decorated with holiday cheer and welcoming customers to shop for the women in their lives.

Jewelry — not just rings, but also precious gems, bracelets and designer watches — can be found at Romanation Jewelers, celebratin­g 65 years of business and offering 25 percent off discounts all weekend.

Annick Designs offers fine artisan jewelry, crystals, and mineral specimens, along with River Rocks Bead Shop and its storewide specials, with many trays to peruse, as well as in-store holiday treats.

Shoppers can treat their loved ones or themselves with items for a repurposed or reclaimed space, as Funcycled is offering

10 percent off all furniture, or search unique shabby chic pieces at Artcentric. Trojan Horse Antiques will be offering 10 to 30 percent off all weekend on unique finds of furniture, lighting, glassware, china, and holiday decoration­s.

The kitchen is the perfect gathering space for the cook, with Specials from Staub and Zwilling cookware at Culinary Square, tea and accessorie­s from The Whistling Kettle, custom six-packs from Elixir 16 and 20 percent off items at Spirits of Troy.

Many know Troy Night Out as a night to enjoy live music, but there are shops for music-lovers, as well. Segel Violins is more than just violins, with 10 percent off of frame drums, shaman drums, djembes, tambourine­s, singing bowls and gongs. Nine Steps Away to Africa and the River Street Beat Shop will also be open to round out any music collection this season.

Gifts to unwind with include an ingenious Christmas tree scrubber bath bomb from T& J Soaps, oils and incense from Hippies, Witches and Gypsies, or a good book from independen­t Market Block Books.

In addition to filling your shopping bag, downtown Troy has affordable artwork for sale in the holiday shows at Scarlet Seven Gallery, Argyle Gallery, The Image Gallery of Troy and Clement Frame Shop & Art Gallery. Receptions will be held at The Photograph­y Center with “The Un- known Military,” a popup art show at 23 2nd St., and at Martinez Gallery, which will serve mojitos and daiquiris in the evening.

For Troy Night Out, the downtown welcomes Harrison’s Corner Market, Troy’s newest deli, market and craft beer store, offering themed holiday gift baskets.

To feed Troy Night Outers along the way, restaurant­s like Plumb Oyster Bar, The Shop, Muddaddy Flats and little pecks will offer different foods. Illium Café will offer 15 percent off to customers with receipts from purchases in downtown Troy, while Sunhee’s Farm and Kitchen will feature a thrift shop, The Farm, the Kitchen and the Wardrobe.

Hudson- Chatham Winery and Superior Merchandis­e Co. will serve up red wine hot chocolate recipes, offering a warm way for adults to unwind.

Many of the local Black Friday festivitie­s will continue into the weekend for Small Business Saturday, when participan­ts can pick up the annual, handprinte­d ‘enjoy troy’ tote bags for plastic-free shopping.

The Downtown Troy BID, which hosts Troy Night Out, will have 2017 Holiday Passports available at its office at 251 River St.
