Cohoes, MH split girls, boys bowling

The Cohoes and Maple Hill girls and bowling teams split in a Colonial Council match Monday.

The Cohoes girls earned a 24-8 win over Maple Hill thanks to a 2,822-2,492. Madison Dunn led the Tigers with a high game of 223 and 629 series. Becky Lauridsen had a 482 series for the Wildcats.

Maple Hill beat Cohoes in the boys match by one pin. The teams tied 16-16 but the Wildcats had a 3,237- 3,236 advantage in total pinfall.

Kevin Ackerman led Maple Hill with a 259 single and 721 series. Brandon Charette had a high 279 single and 647 series for Cohoes.

College basketball

UALBANY’S CREMO HONORED » After helping U-Albany win three games in six days, Joe Cremo has been selected as the America East Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week.

Cremo picks up his third career America East Player of the Week award. This is the second conference weekly honor for the team this season, with Greig Stire being Player of the Week in the first opportunit­y this year.

Cremo helped U-Albany earn victories over Oneonta, Dartmouth and Holy Cross to continue the team’s undefeated start at 6-0.

The junior guard and team captain averaged 20.3 points and four assists a game during the week, shooting 60 percent from the field, 62.5 percent from three and 90 percent from the free throw line. He earned a career-high 30 points in the win at Holy Cross, including seven three-pointers, to pass the career 1,000 points mark.

Cremo became the 10th player in U-Albany’s Division I history to reach the 1,000-point mark on Saturday.

Cremo and the Great Danes play tonight at Monmouth at 7 p.m. in New Jersey.
