Boys and Girls Club to host Pizzapalooza
TROY, N.Y. » The Troy Boys & Girls Club will host its 10th annual Pizzapalooza fundraiser at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Franklin Terrace Ballroom, 126 Campbell Ave.
Pizzapalooza is a gourmet
pizza-tasting event that challenges local culinary teams to make the best pies in the region. Guests attending the event will sample both pizzas and desserts entered into the competition, as well as take part in a free beer tasting and have the opportunity to bid on a huge selection of silent auction items.
More than 250 people attended last year’s event, sampling pizza from Deli & Brew, Big Apple Pizzeria, DeFazio’s Woodfired Pizza, LaBella Pizza & Restaurant and even Tri-City Valley Cats Woodfired Pizza, as well as dessert offerings from Ben & Jerry’s.
Proceeds from the event help the club, located at 1700 7th Ave., provide programs that encourage children to demonstrate good character and citizenship, strive for academic and artistic success and choose healthy lifestyles. Formed in 1903, the Troy Boys & Girls Club served more than 1,000 children in 2015, with nearly 85 percent of those children coming to the club at least once a week.
Sponsorships are still available, as are both honorary committee and general admission tickets. Honorary committee tickets are $50, while general admission is $25, and are available online at www.tbgc.org.
