Child sex abuser gets 20 years
ALBANY, N.Y. >> A Troy man will spend as much as two decades behind bars after being caught on surveillance video sexual abusing a pair of young children inside a McDonalds restaurant in Watervliet.
Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares called Kelley Tremblay, 59, one of the most prolific pedophiles he has seen, but on Friday, Tremblay was sentenced in state Supreme Court to 20 years in prison, followed by as much as 20 years of postrelease supervision. Judge Roger McDonough also ordered Tremblay to register as a sex offender.
Authorities said Tremblay engaged in oral sex with a 5-year- old girl Aug. 26 inside the McDonald’s on 16th Street in Watervliet and also subjected that child and her 7-year- old sister to sexual contact. Authorities said Tremblay used his grandson to entice the girls and told them the girls asked him to put his hands down their pants.
He pleaded guilty in November to a felony count of first- degree criminal sexual act under terms of a plea deal. Tremblay was indicted by a grand jury in September on charges including predatory sexual assault against a child and two counts of firstdegree sexual abuse, all felonies.
When he was initially arrested Sept. 19 by Watervliet and state police, troopers also charged Tremblay with first- degree sex abuse, as well as a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child, stemming from allegations he had sexual contact with a 7-year- old child in the town of Grafton. Those charges remaing outstanding.
