BABES IN TROYLAND: Now in its third year, “Babes in Troyland” fills the Takk House, 55Third Street, downtown Troy, with more than 20 antique, vintage and crafts vendors on Saturday December 9, from 1p.m. to 7p.m. and Sunday December 10, from 11 a.m. to 4p.m. Admission is $5 for the whole weekend. REINVIGORA­TING DEMOCRACY: Blaire Horner, executive director of the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG), will discuss the steps that should be taken to reverse NYS’s awful record in voter registrati­on and turnout. New York requires that voters register at least 25 days before an election, one of the earliest deadlines in the nation. In the 2016electi­on, the Presidenti­al debates had not ended by New York’s registrati­on deadline. New York

RPI HOLIDAY CONCERT: The 2017Presid­ent’s Holiday Concert at Rensselaer Polytechni­c Institute will take place on Sunday, December 10, at 3p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Curtis R. Priem Experiment­al Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) on campus. The Rensselaer Orchestra, under the direction of Nicholas DeMaison, will present a semi-staged version of “Peer Gynt,” the 1867play by Henrik Ibsen with music by Edvard Grieg. Joining the orchestra will be the Rensselaer Concert Choir, members of the Instrument­al Fellows ensemble, members of the The RPI Players, and soprano Kimberley Osburn. The production also will feature the work of students in the Sculpture II class of Jefferson Kielwagen, who is a lecturer in the Department of Arts. SERVICE OF LESSONS & CAROLS: The annual Christmas Service of Lessons and Carols at Williams College will be held at 4p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, December 9and 10, in Thompson Memorial Chapel. The services feature choral music by the Williams Concert and Chamber Choirs, congregati­onal singing of carols, and the traditiona­l reading of the biblical Christmas story. HONOR A DECEASED VETERAN: The Rensselaer County Honor a Deceased Veteran Program honors Edward L. CHRISTMAS CONCERT: The annual Christmas Concert at the Petersburg­h Baptist Church has become a lively local tradition, and is sure to impart the spirit of the season. This year, the community is invited to “Behold Our God,” celebratin­g a humble birth that would change the world. Under the inspired direction of Karen Webster, the multifaith choir will perform a program of Christmas songs representi­ng many traditions and genres.
