Kingston tops Troy basketball in OT

TROY, N.Y. » Kingston outscored Troy High 12- 6 in overtime to clinch a 76-70 non-league boys varsity basketball win Saturday.

Nazaire Merritt scored 20 points, Alonzo Alexander had 15 and Latyce Faison ad all 14 of his points in the second half and overtime for the Flying Horses in defeat.

Damani Thomas put up 27 points and Chris Wright added 24 for Kingston in the victory. TROY 52, MOHONASEN 49 » Lateef Johnson led the way with 12 points while Latyce Faison and Nazaire added 11 apiece for the Flying Horses in a Suburban Council win over the Warriors.

Duncan Tallman had 17 points for Mohonasen in defeat. SHAKER61, GUILDERLAN­D48 » Jake Cook scored 22 points and Devin Mahoney added 21 for the Blue Bison in a league win.

Wrestling

COLUMBIA WINS JAY ALVAREZ INVY » The Columbia varsity wrestling team produced four champions and 244.5 points to win the Jay Alvarez Invitation­al at Eagle Academy in New York City Saturday.

With the win, the Blue Devils (12- 0) remain undefeated in dual meets and have won all three tournament­s they’ve entered, including the Columbia Duals Dec. 1-2 and Cornwall Duals Dec. 9.

Michael Gonyea was the 126-pound champ at the Jay Alvarez invite while Mikey Altomer (132 pounds), Pierce Hurd (182) and Robert Cleghorn (285) also reached the top of the podium.

Girls basketball

OUR LADY OF LOURDES 68, SARATOGA SPRINGS 50 » Dolly Cairns scored 19 points and Kerry Flaherty added 12 but it wasn’t enough as Saratoga Springs’ varsity girls basketball team suffered its first defeat of the season 68-50 to Our Lady of Lourdes Saturday. TROY 61, MOHONASEN 70 » The Troy High girls basketball team picked up its first win of the season with a 61- 47 victory over Mohonasen Friday night.

Jenalyse Alarcon and Alaina Holmes scored 14 points apiece to lead the Flying Horses (1-1 Suburban Council, 1- 4 overall) in scoring while Nadia Brons added 10 points and Megan Bradley finished with nine. LANSINGBUR­GH 58, ICHABOD CRANE 52 » The Knights rallied back from a 12- 0 deficit with four 3-pointers late in the first quarter in a Colonial Council win. COLUMBIA50, NISKAYUNA4­2 » Lexi Van Vorst led the Blue Devils with 16 points, Emily Zeyak added 13 and Alysia Roldan finished with 10 in the Suburban Council win.

Tyra Omeally-Turnbull had 13 points for the Silver Warriors. SHAKER/COLONIE 1 » Six different Plainsmen scored goals in a rout of Shaker/ Colonie. Mike Molloy scored on a pass from Joe Molloy for the only goal of the game for Shaker/Colonie.
