SUN CITY, AZ - Raymond David Kenyon died on August 10, 2016 after a very short battle with cancer. He was 83 years old and residing in Sun City, AZ at the time. Raymond was born and raised in the Saratoga Springs area, graduating from Saratoga High School in 1952. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1953 and served as an aircraft mechanic until 1960. Soon after his honorable discharge from the Air Force he moved to San Diego, CA. He attended San Diego State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He followed that up with a Masters in Business Administration. He worked for a number of companies in San Diego CA, Modesto CA, and Orange County, CA. He eventually settled into a long career with Hughes Aircraft of Fullerton, CA. He was very proud of the work he accomplished there, although if you ever questioned him about his job, he’d say, “Top Secret and I’d have to kill you after I told you.” Ray went on to own a computer company, MicroServe, for a number of years in Southern CA, and at the same time he received his real estate license and started dabbling in property investments. This eventually led him to Arizona where he finished out his real estate carrier. His last career project was being co-owner of Ken-Mar Development in Saratoga Springs with his brother, Bob, and Tony Martino. Ray lived a very full life. He liked to “take the bull by the horns” as the saying goes. He wanted to experience as much as possible. He traveled extensively. He took college classes and received a number of certifications well after retirement. He learned how to do just about every recreational sport from golf, to tennis, bowling, martial arts, swimming, scuba diving, sailing, off road motorcycling, and every type of dancing (He was quick on his toes.). And if he learned an activity, he learned it well or he didn’t waste his time with it. Ray is survived by his 5 children: Steve Kenyon of Summerville, SC; Gary Kenyon (wife Jennifer) formerly of Saratoga Springs and now in Summerfield, FL; Linda Kenyon Schreiber (husband Ed) of Brookings, OR; Aram Kenyon of Chico, CA; Karla Kenyon of Denver, CO. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life ceremony was held for him on his birthday in 2017 in Sun City AZ. His daughter Linda is now bringing his ashes to rest in his home town area and near to his closest friend, Theodore McNeary, at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY. A short military honor service will be held on Ray’s birth date, January 4, 2018 at 1pm. Friends and family are invited to attend.
