HONOR A DECEASED VETERAN: The Rensselaer County Honor a Deceased Veteran Program will honor Thomas P. Ryan at this month’s ceremony, held on February 12at 0830in the Legislativ­e Chambers, Third Floor of the County Office Bldg. 1600Sevent­h Avenue, Troy. Thomas P. Ryan served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Lindsey during World War II. The Lindsey supported Marines at Iwo Jima and later was seriously damaged during the Battle of Okinawa by a mass kamikaze attack resulting in the death of 57and wounding of an additional 57members of its crew. Ryan’s awards included the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
