Lansingbur­gh girls bowling claims Section II title

TROY, N.Y. » The Lansingbur­gh girls bowling team took top honors in the Section II tournament Thursday afternoon at Boulevard Bowl in Schenectad­y, rolling a team total of 5,149 pins to earn the small school division title.

Coach Tony Farali used his entire bench for the top pin fall total Thursday with eight different Knights taking to the lanes in the sixgame, single- day tournament.

Katie Lynch was rock solid, rolling a 238-246-218 702 series in the morning session and following it up with a 205-222-191 618 afternoon session for 1,320 total. Hannah Jacobs followed with her 482- 577 1,059 series for Lansingbur­gh.

Columbia High School’s Sarah Steele took home Class A high single honors with her 24. She was followed by Mohonasen’s Katie Adames’ 234 and Shenectady’s Katie Polomaine’s 223.

Mohonasen’s Mackenzie Simmons captured the high series honors with her 634. Bethlehem’s Sierra Glass was second with a 607 and teammate Melanie Lemke rolled a 597.

In Class B Lansingbur­gh’s Lynch took home high series honors with her 702 series. Cohoes’ Abby Houser followed with a 548 and teammate Kiersten Tague rolled a 527.

Lansingbur­gh’s Jacobs earned high single honors with her 226 followed by teammate Kylee Bristol’s 217 and Cohoes bowler Madison Dunn was third with her 209.

In the Class C/D tournament, Middleburg­h’s Carolyne Shultes rolled a 601 followed by Duanesburg’s Kyle Largeteau’s 562 and Middleburg­h’s Jaidyn Rose with a 534 series.

Fort Plain’s Gabriella Jenks captured the high single with her 215 followed by Middleburg­h’s Cameryn Shultes with a 187 as teammate Rebeca Lamridsen and Duanesburg’s Bethany Baza tied with 183s.

Mohonasen captured the large- school tournament with a six-game team total of 5,424 pins and Mackenzie Simmons rolling a 634545 1,179 six- game series. Teammate Katie Adamec followed with a 604- 547 1,151 series.

FOOTHILLS TOURNAMENT

SOUTH GLENS FALLS WINS FOOTHILLS » The South High Bulldogs racked up 6,631 pins over six games at Broadway Lanes in Fort Ed- ward to claim the Foothills Council title. Amsterdam was second with 6.586 pins and Johnstown followed with 6,173.

Amsterdam’s Jack Preville earned top series honors with his 719 and teammate Fred Pinto rolled a singles high game of 278. South Glens Falls’ Kara Rapp earned the high sixgame series title with her 1,400 total pins.

SECTION

MEET » Saratoga Springs took home the top three places at its annual Section II All-Around meet at the Wilton YMCA.

Blue Streak Ava Dallas took the top spot with her combined score of 37.1 points followed by teammate Sophia Damiano with a 36.7 and Laura Eberlein with a 34.925.

Rounding out the top five were Guilderlan­d’s Rachel Drislane with a 34.55 and Saratoga’s Kate Dellaratta with a 33.0.

The event teams gymnasts into groups of three including one gymnasts who has scored greater than 29.0 in the all-around category and two gymnasts who scored less than 29.0 in all four areas at a meet this year.

In the second scoring group, Shaker’s Domenica Hotaling led the way with her 27.75 followed by Bethlehem’s Anna Green at 27.55, Saratoga’s Savanna Schalberg at 26.85, Guilderlan­d’s Courtney Rafferty at 26.625 and Shaker’s Kate Sager at 26.50.

The Section II gymnasts reconvene next Wednesday to celebrate Valentine’s Day at the Section II meet hosted by Shaker High School in Latham.

ICE HOCKEY

SARATOGA3, GUILDERLAN­D/ MOHONASEN 0 » Saratoga’s Will Detora scored two out of the Blue Streaks three goals Wednesday night at the Weibel Avenue Ice Rink.

Detora finished with a goal and two assists in the league win with Saratoga goalie Brad Hipsley earning the shutout victory, turning back all 13 shots he faced. The Blue Streaks put 38 shots on Storm goalie Daniel Cooper in the win.

Joe Amodio scored the third goal for Saratoga Springs in the win.

BOYS BASKETBALL

HOOSICVALL­EY55, TAMARAC 52 » Hoosic Valley’s Brandon Napoli scored a gamehigh 20 points with John Acker following in support with 16 points of his own as the Indians held off the Bengals in Wasaren League action Thursday night. Tam- arac’s Anthony Ciampilill­o dropped in 16 points with Matt Morrow chipping in 11 on the night.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

WATERFORD- HALFMOON 45, BERLIN 8 » In one of the more unique score books results sent in, Berlin was unable to complete its contest on the road at WaterfordH­alfmoon due to a lack of available players With two players scratched from its line-up, Berlin fielded just six player and when two fouled out in the third quarter, the contest could not be continued.

For Waterford, Hannah Camfield led the scoring in the three- quarter contest with 10 points. 25 » Shaker’s Shyla Sanford scored a game-high 19 points as the Blue Bison powered past Burnt HillsBalls­ton Lake Thursday night in Suburban Council action. Teammate Maddi Mahoney chipped in 11 points in the win. The Spartans were led by Callie Chevalier’s eight points. GLENS FALLS 61, SCHUYLERVI­LLE 43 » A strong second half propelled Glens Falls past Schuylervi­lle in Foothills Council action Wednesday night. Indian’s Anna Bayle sored a game-high 18 points with Soverign Strickland pouring in another 15 points in the win.

The Black Horses were led by Cassie Patrick’s 17-point night with Emily Vallee chipping in 11 more.
