Section 2 ice hockey all-stars announced

TROY, N.Y. » . Bethlehem forward Tom Liebold was named the Section II ice hockey player of the year, released Friday afternoon by the league. The Eagles captain led the league in scoring with 32 goals and 19 assists for 52 points through the 2017-2018 regular season.

Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake/ Ballston Spa senior captain Sam Swingruber was one of several local ice hockey players on the All- Section 2 team. The defenseman finished his final regular season with 13 goals and eight assists. Shenendeho­wa senior captain, defenseman Tom Relyea was honored for his work behind the blue line as much in front of it, named to the All-Section 2 team with three goals on the year and eight assists.

LaSalle senior forward Ryan Murray scored 17 goals this season for the Cadets, adding 12 assists for 29 points in his final year. Christian Brothers Academy junior forward Hunter Pemrick was a force to be reckoned with, scoring 25 goals on the year and assisting on 19 oth- ers for the Brothers. Shaker/Colonie senior forward Tyler Wilson finished with 14 goals and 13 assists on the year for the Jets.

Honored for his work between the pipes, Bethlehem senior goalie Alex Breine was named to the All-Section 2 squad after posting a .934 save percentage and holding teams to a 1.41 goals against average, posting a 15-2

record for the Eagles.

LaSalle senior forward Tom Ryan scored 17 goals on the year and was credited with 22 assists on the year, named to the Section 2 first-team all-stars. Shenendeho­wa junior Brennan Alheim finished with nine goals on the year and 10 assists for the Plainsmen, including four power play goals during the regular season. CBA captain Andrew Mesick provided the Brothers with 10 goals and 11 assists this year.

Bethlehem’s Justin Chenaille, an Eagles sophomore, proved his value

on the Eagles line, scoring 17 times and providing 30 assists this year. Division II senior defenseman, Queensbury’s Patrick Wilson closed out his final season with two goals and 17 assists for the Spartans.

Guilderlan­d/Mohonasen goaltender Daniel Cooper was named to the Section 2 first-team all stars. He posted a .916 save percentage in goal, turning back 662 shots on the year for The Storm.

Saratoga Springs sophomore Xavier Clarke was the lone Blue Streak to be named on the post-season awards roster. He finished with a goal and three assists, named to the Section 2 second- team all- stars, noted for his play by other

area coaches. Coaches cannot nominate their own players for post- season awards.

Bethlehem dominated the second-team award roster with forwards Pat Englebride, Mike Bievenue and defenseman Dylan Kowalsky all named to the second-team squad.

CBA freshman forward Ryan Dollar finished with 16 goals and 17 assists for the Brothers this year. LaSalle senior goalie Casey Boone closed out the regular season with a 2.10 goals against average and a .919 save percentage for the Cadets.
