TROY, N.Y. » The Collar City is hosting its very own Amazing Race this Friday as part of its monthly Troy Night Out festival.

February’s Amazing RaceThemed Troy Night Out is encouraged people to shop, dine and explore their way through downtown Troy in the style of the popular television show.

This Troy Night Out, scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday throughout downtown Troy, is meant to award attendees by testing their wit, resourcefulness and skills.

The evening will challenge event-goers to visit businesses and downtown areas they may not have explored before; and find things they might not knowabout the district.

Participants will visit businesses downtown and answer a trivia question or complete a task. Those who collect at least 15 visits will be eligible for prizes - and the more tasks completed, the better the prize.

Visitors are invited to visit more than 25 partnering businesses throughout the district, and have their map stamped along the way.

The first participant who turns in their map will win a gift basket of gift cards and “Troy-centric” items.

Additional prizes are awarded to the participants with the highest amount of completed correct tasks.

The trivia and tasks could include multiple choice questions related to the business, discovering an answer within the business and simple games. The final stop in this downtown Troy Amazing Race is Enigmatic Escapes, where, if players can crack the code, they can hand in their map.

Unlike the official Amazing Race, participants can start anywhere and can continue even if they get stumped on a stomp. The event’s emphasis is on epxloration and learning more about Troy.

Other select special events happening this Troy Night Out include an opening reception at Martinez Gallery for Estamos Aqui ( We are Here) with photographs by Latino track workers of Saratoga Springs by Jakeb Kristiansen. Handcrafted necklaces by artist Alexandra Higgins will also be on display. The Photography Center of the Capital District hosts the “Best of 2017” exhibition of 60 photographs by 34 regional photographers, and Scarlet Seven Fine Art Gallery presents “Algorithms,” work by Channing Lefebvre, Katherine Chwazik, Justin Kane, Ralph Mercer, and Christopher Murray.

The YWCA of the Great Capital Region kicks off its 100-year anniversary with guided tours of their historic building, including a trivia question challenge.
