RITA SHEERAN
TROY - Rita Dooley Sheeran, 94, went to her Lord peacefully February 23, 2018. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John and Rita (Fitzpatrick) Dooley and wife of 61 years to the late Vincent D. Sheeran. Rita was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church for 71 years. She was a past president of the Sacred Heart Church Altar Rosary Society, treasurer of the Sacred Heart School Women’s Club, member of Ladies of Charity, Eucharistic Minister, volunteer at Saint Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary, the Albany City Child and Abuse Program, and Our Lady of Hope, and on the Board of Directors at Unity House, Seton Center and Right to Life. Rita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her children and son-in-law, Anne Jakubowski (John) of Buffalo, Michael Sheeran of Troy, NY, Vincent Sheeran (Dallas) of Dana Point, CA, Dr. George Bren (Teresa) of Washington, DC; grandchildren, David (Cara) Jakubowski of Hillsborough, CA, Julie (Jeremiah) Smith of Lewiston, NY, Matthew (Anna Rose) Bren of Santa Monica, CA, Dr. Kathleen Bren of Washington, DC, Kristen (Trevor) Sheeran Evans of Fallbrook, CA, and Kelly Sheeran of Carlsbad, CA; great grandchildren, Ryan and Christian Jakubowski; sisters-in-law, Frances and Madeline Sheeran; brother-in-law, Jim Waltersdorf; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. Rita was predeceased by two daughters, Katie Sheeran and Teresa Bren, and siblings, Mary, Donald, Jane and Elizabeth. The Sheeran family wishes to gratefully thank Ludder’s Country Home of West Sand Lake for their love, care and compassion. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Troy where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Daniel D.
