RAYMERTOWN - Richard H. “Dick” Graue, 84, a longtime resident of Raymertown since 1965, passed away peacefully February 26, 2018 with his beloved wife by his side. Born in New York City, November 16, 1933, Richard was the son of the late Richard H. and Else (Helmer) Graue and for over 53 years the husband and best friend of Vickie (Schramm) Graue of Raymertown who survives. He spent his older childhood years growing up in Chatham and went on to attend Wagner College in Manhattan. On November 23, 1956 he was drafted into the United States Army at Fort Dix, New Jersey and attended the Army’s Technical School at Fort Knox in Kentucky. He served the country proudly in Korea and earned several awards as an Expert Marksman with several classes of firearms. He was honorably discharged on November 21, 1958. He moved back to New York City and became a bank employee where he met his future wife, Vickie (a co-worker at the time). They moved to upstate New York, residing first in Troy and then further east to Raymertown to live and raise a family. For over thirty years he was a federal employee working as an Investigat­ive Field Agent for the Department of the Treasury at the Internal Revenue Service’s Albany office. He retired in 1996. Richard was an avid coin and stamp collector, where he met many of his friends through those hobbies. He enjoyed trips to Maine, Florida and the Caribbean with Vickie. Other times he enjoyed feeding and viewing the backyard birds. In addition to his wife, Vickie, he is survived by his son, Eric Graue of Raymertown. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside committal service, with military honors to be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylervi­lle. There will be no public calling. Funeral service details are under the direction of Howard B.
