RPI’s Lilegren, Prapavessis and Wilson sign pro deals

TROY, N.Y. » Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute ( RPI) men’s hockey seniors Viktor Liljegren, Mike Prapavessis and Jared Wilson have all signed professional contracts with ECHL teams. Liljegren signed an ATO with the Reading Royals, while Prapavessis and Wilson inked deals with the Cincinnati Cyclones and Toledo Walleyes, respectively.

Liljegren, a forward from Stockholm, Sweden, recorded 13 points on nine goals and four assists. He played in 34 games, leading the team in gamewinning goals (3), shots (90) and shots per game (2.65). He blocked 11 shots at the defensive end of the ice and took nine penalties for 29 minutes.

In 151 career games at Rensselaer, Liljegren scored 31 goals and assisted on 27 for 58 points. A former member of the Fairbanks Ice Dogs he posted 18 points (10 goals, 8 assists) as a junior and 15 points (5 goals, 10 assists) as a sophomore.

A defenseman out of Oakville, Ont., Prapavessis led the Engineers with 19 assists, while playing all 37 games this season. He averaged a team-high 0.51 assists per game, with seven power play points (all assists). The team leader with 50 blocks, he was assessed nine penalties for

18 minutes.

Prapavessis concluded his career with 154 games played, which is tied for the most in school history with Chase Polacek ‘11 and Jeff Foss ‘11. The former Toronto Patriot recorded seven goals and 55 assists for 62 points, picking up at least 14 helpers in each of his four seasons with the Engineers.

Wilson, a captain and defenseman from Calgary, Alb., played in all 37 games for RPI in 2017-18, collecting seven goals and seven assists for 14 points. Leading the team with four power play goals, he also had three man-advantage assists for seven points. He had 88 shots, while also blocking 40 at the defensive end. He drew 21 penalties for a team-high 45 minutes.

Playing in 151 career games, Wilson scored 27 goals and had 25 assists for 52 points. He notched at least six assists in every season and led all NCAA defenseman with 11 goals during the 2016-17 season. A former member of the Vernon Vipers, he had six goals as a sophomore and three during his freshman season.

The Engineers went 6-27- 4 this season, including a 4-16-2 mark in ECAC Hockey play.
