PASTORAL CARE WORKSHOP: A Pastoral Care Ministry Formation & Skill Building six-week workshop “Pastoral Visitation to the Sick, Elderly and Homebound,” will be held Tuesdays, 6:30p.m. - 8:30 p.m., from April 5– May 10 at Christ Our Light Church, 1 Maria Drive, Loudonville. The workshop offers information on pastoral visitation, communication, illness issues, spiritual assessment, grief, loss, suffering, faith, death, dying, ritual, sacraments, theology of pastoral care and care giving issues. 120˙ INTERCOLLEGIATE REGIONAL EXHIBITION: The Art Center of the Capital Region announces the 120˙ Intercollegiate Regional Exhibition, a traveling exhibition of collegiate artwork from students within a 120mile radius of Troy, Saratoga Spring and Glens Falls. The exhibitions runs from March 30- April 20in the Main Gallery, 265River Street, Troy. The reception will be held on Friday, March 30from 5p.m. - 9p.m. as part of Troy Night Out. ABSTRACT ART EXHIBIT: Contemporary abstract painter Michael Nighswonger returns to the Capital District with a popup exhibit of over 40pieces from his latest collection from March 15– 25at the recently vacated TD Bank building at 343Delaware Avenue in Delmar. The exhibit will be open daily from 10a.m. – 8p.m. Michael hosts “ConversationS about Contemporary Art” on Monday, March 19, at 2p.m. and Wednesday, March 21, at 7 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public. On Tuesday, May 1, Catholic Charities TriCounty Services is inaugurating A Place at the Table, a luncheon to benefit these five programs. This event will offer you a glimpse into the world our clients navigate every day. A compelling program will be offered illustrating the needs within our communities and how Catholic Charities is making real differences in people’s lives. CHEFS CHALLENGE: Join Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region for its Chef’s Challenge on Thursday, May 24. This annual fundraiser will feature seven restaurants, each making a signature dish to compete in the People’s Choice food competition. Each dish will be paired with a signature cocktail or beverage. Guests will try each dish and vote for their favorite. Excelsior Springs, located at 47Excelsior Avenue in Saratoga Springs, will host the event from 6:30p.m. to 10:00p.m. Young professional tickets (under 30y.o.) cost $50, general admission is $75, date night tickets (2tickets) cost $112.50and honorary committee tickets cost $150. HOLY WEEK: St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, located at 600State Street, (corner of State and Lafayette Streets), Schenectady, announces its Holy Week Schedule. Palm Sunday Weekend Masses with the blessing and distribution of palms will be held on Saturday, March 24, at 5:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 25, at 9:30a.m. On Holy Thursday, March 29, the Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated at 5:30p.m., followed by the Procession of the Blessed Sacrament to the Repository. The Church will be open until 10p.m. for public adoration. There will not be a 12:15p.m. Mass on this day. On Good Friday, March 30, the Church will open at noon for private meditation with The Seven Last Words at 12:15p.m.; Stations of the Cross at 2:30p.m. and The Liturgy of the Passion and Death of our Lord, including Veneration of the Cross and a Holy Communion Service at 3p.m. On Holy Saturday, March 31will be the Blessing of Easter Foods at 11 a.m. and the Easter Vigil Service – the Mass of the Resurrection at 7:30p.m. There will not be a 5:30p.m. Mass. On Easter Sunday, April 1, the Mass of the Resurrection will be offered at 9:30a.m.

ALBANY CAN CODE: Albany Can Code, a nonprofit focused on creating a new generation of software coders in the Capital Region, has opened registration for a new course being offered this spring. The Automated Web Testing course is being offered for the first time through a new partnership with Hudson Valley Community College. It will serve individuals who want to work in software, but not necessarily in website design and development. Classes start April 5and meet on Thursday evenings from 6p.m. - 8p.m. for 10 weeks at the HVCC campus in Troy. Tuition is $400. Interested students can go to albanycancode.org to learn more or apply.

ES: Local artist Monica Bill Hughes will conduct a series of four Basic Drawing Classes on Mondays from March 19- April 9at 6p.m. at the Troy Public Library’s Main location, 100Second Street. This beginner friendly workshop will help you develop skills in sketching objects from observation, starting with simple forms which become the foundation for understanding more complex objects. Primary materials used will be graphite and charcoal. Basic materials are provided. This program is free and open to the public. Please make reservations by calling the library at 518-274-7071. The North Colonie School District Transportation Department announces that request forms for transportation to non-public schools for students in grades K-12 for the 2017-18school year are now available. These forms are required to be completed each year and filed with the district’s transportation department no later than April 1. Forms may be completed online at http://www.northcolonie.org/transportationrequest-form-for-nonpublic-school-grades-k-12/ information-parents-nonpublic-school-students/. Forms are also available at the Transportation Department, located on the Shaker High School campus, 445 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham.
