TROY - Frances “Fran” T. Luke, 90, passed away at Morristown Medical Center, Morristown, NJ, on Saturday, March 24, 2018, with her daughter and sonin-law by her side. Born in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Sophie Lewandowsk­i Glazewski. After graduating from Troy High School, Frances began her career as an executive secretary at Socony-Vacuum Oil Co. (Mobil Oil) in Albany, and remained legal secretary to F. Richard Decatur, Esq., for the remainder of her career. She was an active member of and held leadership positions in many organizati­ons, including the NY State Federation of Home Bureaus Inc., the former Holy Trinity Mother’s Club, Rosary Society, and Choir, the Polish American Club of Troy, and the former AARP of Rensselaer County and its Bocce League. Fran was well known as a gifted crafter, excelling in numerous mediums. She was recognized for her unique creations and her meticulous eye for detail. As a member and instructor at the Birchkill Arts and Craft Guild of Troy, NY, she was often sought after to share the techniques she had perfected. Frances is survived by her daughter, Barbara Solsky McCann, and sonin-law, Michael McCann, of Hoboken, NJ; she was predecease­d by her husband, Charles Luke, her brothers Alex and John Glazewski, and sisters Anna Banaszewsk­i, Theresa Novak, Sr. M. Bernice, C.R., and Helen Glazewski. She will be remembered as the caregiver to many family members in their final years. Frances is also survived by her nieces, Linda Novak Brennan (William), Diane Novak Czerniawsk­i (David), and sister-in-law Jean Luke and her children, James and Cindy. She was Great-Aunt to Ashley L. Brennan, Cindy Ortiz, and Kevin and Carin Czerniawsk­i. She was a faithful communican­t of St. Joseph’s Church and the former Holy Trinity Church in Troy, for which she provided many years of volunteer support. In her retirement, Fran enjoyed socializin­g with her wide circle of friends, along with her beloved husband, Charlie. She will forever be loved and remembered by all who knew her. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 3 at 8:45 a.m. from the Wm. Leahy Funeral Home, 336 3rd St., Troy, and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Troy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Internment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, 4/2, from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributi­ons in Fran’s memory would be appreciate­d and may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, 416 3rd St.,Troy, NY 12180.
