MARC MERON: Stand-up comedian, author and actor Marc Maron will be interviewe­d by Assistant Professor of Religion Jeffrey Israel live at Williams College on Thursday, April 12, at 7p.m. in the ’62Center MainStage. NYS WRITERS’ INSTITUTE (RPI): Paul Harding received the 2010Pulitz­er Prize for Fiction for “Tinkers” (2009). His second novel, “Enon” (2013), the story of one man’s enduring love for his daughter, was named a best novel of the year by The Wall Street Journal and the American Library Associatio­n. Harding will appear at the Reading and McKinney Writing Contest Awards at 8p.m. in the CBIS (Biotech) Auditorium, Biotechnol­ogy and Interdisci­plinary Studies Building, RPI, Troy. PLATAEU FARMING PRESENTATI­ON: Laughing Earth began as the Henry Morrison Farm in the late 1700s. Since that time, it has seen dramatic change in how the land was utilized and how the people lived on it. Annie and Zack Metzger will take a look at how equipment and methods have changed along with technologi­cal, societal and marketing changes. These changes have, in part, left farming with a shortage of labor, creating a very dif- ferent incoming generation of farmers. Part of Rensselaer Plateau Alliance’s 2nd Thursday Lecture Series. RIBBON CUTTING: The historic office building on the corner of Fulton and 4th Street in downtown Troy has undergone major renovation­s and is attracting new businesses to the downtown area. Clermont & Fourth LLC took over ownership in 2016and enlisted NAI Platform to lease out the office and retail spaces. A public ribbon-cutting ceremony in collaborat­ion with the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce will take place on April 12at 4:30p.m. followed by a tour of the building from 5p.m. to 5:30p.m.

TAKE BACK THE NIGHT: In Observance of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, April 8- 14th, the East Greenbush/Lower Rensselaer County communitie­s are invited to participat­e in this year’s Take Back the Night Walk beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday evening, April 12, at Onderdonk Park on Hampton Manor Lake. A brief ceremony will be led by Martha Lasher-Warner, President of the Family and Friends of Liza Ellen Warner Associatio­n. She will introduce the evening’s special guests and government officials who will be joining in the walk. All in attendance will be invited to demonstrat­e their own support by joining in the mile-long walk around the lake. Onderdonk Park is located across from Hampton Manor Lake, at the corner of Hampton Avenue and Lakeshore Drive, East Greenbush.
