Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday
TROY, N.Y. » Residents living in Rensselaer County will be able to get rid of some of their unwanted electronic products during the county’s annual Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday.
The event will be held at the County Office Building at 1600 7th Ave. on April 21 from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. The Legislature and its Environmental Management Council team up each year to sponsor this event.
“Just in time for Spring cleaning. This [is] a great way to clear your home of unwanted electronics in an environmentally friendly way”, said county legislator Jake Ashby who serves on the Environmental Committee that sponsors the event.”
“Each year, hundreds of residents take advantage of this great service. We are pleased to offer it again this year”, added county legislator Leon Fiacco, who also chairs the Environmental Committee.
The event will be held in the parking lot of the County Office Building, accessible from Congress Street. County legislators and other staff members will be there to help unload your vehicles.
“We are asking residents to pay close attention to what can, and cannot be accepted. If there are any questions, residents are asked to call ProTek at (518) 874-1001. Televisions of any kind or style will not be accepted, but hey [we’ll] take computers, VCR’s, old stereo equipment, etc.” said Rensselaer County Legislature Chairman Mike Stammel.
This event is for Rensselaer County residents only.
Partial list of prohibited items: Televisions(all types), CRT monitors, Alkaline batteries, dishwashers, fluorescent lights and light bulbs, liquid or powdered chemicals, cleaning products or fluids, paint or paint cans, refrigerators, tires, toxic or hazardous materials, wood, glass, or plastic, and any radioactive, volatile, highly flammable, explosive, biomedical, or infectious materials.
