BALLSTON GRAD ZACH DURFEE HITS IN THREEGAME SERIES FOR SIENA

Joe Drpich homered twice as Siena Baseball salvaged the series by handing MAAC frontrunne­r Quinnipiac its first league loss with a 12-4victory in the series finale in Hamden, Connecticu­t Sunday. The Bobcats took the first game of the doublehead­er and clinched the series with a 5-2win in seven innings in the opener. Sophomore right fielder Zach Durfee (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa H.S.) had a hit in all three games of the series, going 1-for-3 in each contest. He scored a run in all three games and punched through an RBI Saturday afternoon. Junior center fielder Matt Hamel (Gansevoort/Christian Brothers Academy) went 1-for-2with a run scored and an RBI Friday, 2-for-3 with an RBI game in Saturday’s opener finishing 1-for3with a two RBI game in the finale. a graduate player on the Gator team, was named the Empire 8Softball Player of the Week for her outstandin­g play last week. Sage went 2-1and is now 6-7 overall.

Rimawi had an amazing week as Sage went 2-1. She batted .750for the week with a 1.250sluggin­g percentage. In a doublehead­er with Skidmore on Tuesday she went 6-for-8including the go ahead three-run homerun in Sage’s come from behind win in the nightcap. On Thursday, Rimawi was 3-for-2with a double, which marked her third straight game with a double. She finished the week with seven runs batted in and four runs scored for the Gators.
