Maple Hill softball continues hot streak
MAPLE HILL 2, GREENVILLE 0>> “This was a classic pitchers duel. Alysa [Houghtaling] and Ava [Fitzmaurice] were fantastic today and weren’t giving the opposition many chances,” Maple Hill head coach Pat Austin said. “Fortunately for us, we clawed and scratched together a few runs in the sixth with a hit by pitch [Tara Smith] a SAC bunt [Lizzie Brahm], and consecutive RBI hits [Arianna Papas and [Houghtaling]. We also made some outstanding plays out in the field and got out of some major jams. Against a very tough team in Greenville, those are exactly the types of things you need to do to win. I’m very happy for the girls. This was a big win.” Houghtaling went the distance with a four-hit shutout and six K’s. Fitzmaurice also threw a complete game, yielding four hits and two runs, fanning nine.
