Nemjo belts first home run in Tamarac victory

BALLSTONSP­A2, BURNTHILLS­1>> In a tight contest which went scoreless into the sixth, the Scotties edged the Spartans in eight innings. During that sixth stanza, Ana Gold set the table by coaxing a walk and stealing second base. With two down, Grace Thompson singled home Gold for the first run. In the home half of the seventh, McKenzieKo­nik, who also doubled, beat out a potential double play ball and the Spartans quared the game at one. Yet, during the eighth, the battery of Sarah Pritchard and Angelina Stile would team up at the plate. Stile, who reached on an er- ror, on a ball hit to right, would come around to score on a sacrifice fly to center by Pritchard, for the eventual winner. Pritchard recorded the win with four K’s, zero walks and allowing six hits. Kristen Langdon took the hard luck loss, fanning three while yielding seven hits and two walks. Dalton Maxon was masterful on the mound, fanning six, yielding two runs on three hits and five walks. Jake Scharnott had three doubles for the Bengals and three runs scored. and scored 3times. In his outing for Stillwater, Scott Travis whiffed six, allowing seven runs on six hits and four walks.
