ACUTE ISCHEMIC STROKE CONFERENCE: Albany Medical College’s Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery will host an acute ischemic stroke conference for caregivers on Wednesday, May 9 at Hudson Valley Community Col leg e’ sBul mer Telecommunications Center in Troy. The conference will review the latest concepts in the management of ischemic stroke, and provide practitioners with knowledge of accurate diagnosis and treatment of ischemic stroke, including treatment options for both primary and secondary stroke prevention. ALL ABOUT BEEKEEPING: Depictions of humans collecting honey from wild bees date to 15,000years ago. Around 4500years ago, efforts to domesticate them were found in Egyptian tombs of the pharaohs such as Tutankhamun. It wasn’t until the 18th century that understanding of the colonies and biology of bees allowed the construction of the moveable comb hive so that honey could be harvested without destroying the entire colony. Tom Slavin talks on the history of beekeeping at Sand Lake Town Hall on May 10at 7p.m. as part of Rensselaer Plataeu Alliance’s 2nd Thursday Lecture Series. Donation $5.
