TROY, N.Y. » A quartet of Cadets made their future intentions known at La Salle Institute. Tyree Gonzales will be running track and field at UAlbany. Franz Von Stetina will play football at Salve Regina. Sam Carson will also play football, at St. John Fisher. Plus, Aidan Crosby will play football at Misericordia University.

“I’m very excited. It’s a dream come true to pursue track at a high division one level,” Gonzales said. “I can’t wait to do great things next year.”

“There was a lot of great options and coaches and colleges that wanted me but honestly with UAlbany, when I went there it felt like I was part of the family,” Gonzales said of choosing UAlbany. “It’s going to be great. My family, friends can all watch me run track. Being home really means a lot to me.”

On the academic side, Gonzales will major in economics and minor in business.

“It’s actually a great moment, I’ve been thinking about it all my life,” Carson said of the opportunity to play football at St. John Fisher. “It wasn’t a goal of mine to

go to the NFL or anything but it was a goal of mine to play college football. It’s a dream come true and I’m just ready to get to work.”

Carson also detailed what drove him to decide on taking his talents to Western New York.

“It had my major, number one, my major is sports management, it’s a great program over there, so that was the ultimate decision,” Carson said.

“I’m really excited and it’s good to be moving on to bigger and better things,” Von Stetina said of what he’s looking forward to in the fall.

“Salve Regina is right on the ocean and you can’t get much better than that, Von Stetina said of what drew him to the campus. “They gave me the best opportunity to play and I’m excited to go do some work,” Von Stetina said. “I think it’s all about opportunity and they gave me the best chance, so I think I’ll do pretty well.”

“I’m thinking about business and possibly going into the real estate area,” Von Stetina said of his academic and career aspirations.

Gonzales, Carson and Stetina all ref lected on some of the top moments before reaching the pinnacle of their respective high school careers.

“Most memorable is when I got my “PR” ( personal record) in high jump in the indoor season this year and getting congratulations by my coach and friends on the track team,” Gonzales said.

“Top memory was just being able to play with my teammates, just building a brotherhood. I had a lot of fun doing it,” Carson said.

“Top memory is probably the one-handed catch I had junior year against Colonie, that was a great score,” Von Stetina said.

All four will look to create more moments and memories at the collegiate level in the fall.
