JOHN E. FANNUCCI

-

WATERFORD – John Edward Fannucci passed away in the comfort of his home with his wife and daughter by his side on Saturday, May 5, 2018. He was 77 years old. John was born in Troy on October 26, 1940 and was the son of the late Frank and Margaret ( Jessen) Fannucci. He was a life-long resident of Waterford and had attended Waterford schools. John worked, for most of his life, as a heavy equipment operator and, although he could operate any large piece of equipment, was the happiest when he sat at the controls of a bulldozer. He initially worked in the family business, G. Fannucci and Sons Sand Bank in Waterford and later, for more than 15 years, with the NYS Department of Transportation in Clifton Park. He had also worked beside his long-time family friend, Frank Riberdy, at Riberdy Contracting Corporation in Waterford and also owned and operated a lawn care business. He was an honorary life-member of the Kavanaugh Hook and Ladder Company in Waterford. John will be remembered by many for his dedication to his family and friends; for his hard work ethic; for his appreciation of a job well done and for the meticulous manner in which he kept his vehicles and equipment. He loved to spend time, at home, with his family and was especially proud of his daughter Jill, grandchildren Cassandra and Brandon, and great-granddaughter, McKinley. John was the much loved and devoted husband for 54 years of Phyllis (Hervieux) Fannucci to whom he was married on November 16, 1963; loving father of Jill Durivage of Waterford; cherished grandfather of Cassandra Durivage of Waterford and Airman First Class Brandon Durivage, USAF, Maryland; adoring great-grandfather of McKinley Fisher; brother of the late Frank “Buddy” Fannucci; Charles Fannucci (Michele) of Ballston Spa and Barbara Owen (late Thomas) of Waterford; son-in-law of the late Harvey and Alice (Roux) Hervieux; brother-inlaw of the late LeRoy Hervieux whose wife Marilyn survives, Jeanne Dufresne (Art) of Clifton Park and Susan Hervieux Kalinowski (Robert) of Waterford. He is also survived by his “best gal” and faithful canine companion Molly as well as by many nieces, nephews, cousins and good and life-long friends. John’s family is grateful for the care he received throughout his illness and would like to especially thank his nurse Nicole, home health aide, Rosalie, social worker, Helen, chaplain Mike, nurse Stacie and Ashley, who will make a great nurse someday. A private interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford at the convenience of the family. There will be no public visiting hours. In lieu of customary remembrances and in recognition of the wonderful care given to John by the Community Hospice of Saratoga, his family suggests that donations be made to The Community Hospice, Gift Processing Center, 310 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208 memory of John E. Fannucci. “We will see you somewhere over the rainbow”. Comforting words and remembrances may be shared with John’s family at www.parkerbrosmemorial.com
