TROY - Carl “Kemo” Gamble Sr., 67, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 14, 2018, at Albany Medical Center. He was born on June 19, 1950, in Grady, AL. He then relocated to Troy, NY in 1951 with his family. He attended School #5 as a child and graduated from Troy High School. After completing high school, Carl attended JCA for one year. He then obtained employment through Rensselaer County where he held several positions over the course of his 25 years of service. Carl then secured a position with the NYS Department of Labor, as the Regional Director for Affirmativ­e Action, where he worked for twelve years until his retirement. Carl was a phenomenal basketball player and was inducted into the Troy High School Hall of Fame. Carl also played softball for the Canty Panthers and was a member of the Panther Club. He was an avid fisherman and also loved to play poker. Carl is proceeded in death by his grandparen­ts Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt Mosley, his father, Ronnie Canty, his siblings, Denis and Denise Canty , as well as seven uncles and one aunt. In addition to his mother Mrs. Emma Pearl Canty, Carl is survived by his brother, Ronald “Anthony” (Melissa) Canty of Troy, New York, four children, Talia Gamble of Philadelph­ia, Pennsylvan­ia, Carl “Eddie” Gamble Jr. of Troy, Tonya Gamble of Albany, and Todd Gamble of Troy, one nephew Anthony “AJ” Canty Jr., and a host of grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren.Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 9:00am-11:00am at Bethel Baptist Church, 2165 5th Ave, Troy, New York 12180. A funeral service will follow the calling hours starting at 11:00am with services being officiated by Reverend Jackie Robinson, Pastor of Oakgrove Baptist Church.Interment will be held at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
