Local officials tour local pastry place in Troy
TROY, N.Y. » Local politicians were able to see how all of the products from The Cookie Factory bakery warehouse on River Street are prepared.
U. S. Rep. Paul Tonko, DAmsterdam, was joined Wednesday by Troy Mayor Patrick Madden along with representatives from Shop Rite and the Rensselaer County Chamber of Commerce, to get a look at how the Cookie Factory operation works and to sample some products.
The Cookie Factory was formed in 2006 and is owned by two brothers, Chris and Joe Alberino. The Alberinos have been in the business since as
since as far back as they can remember. They bring over 40 years of combined experience to the table.
The Alberino family has been in the bakery business since the late 1960s when Joseph Alberino Sr. opened Alberino & Sons along with his two sons, Joseph Jr. (Chris and Joe’s father) and Carl Alberino.
When Chris and Joe decided to pursue their own bakery and opened the Cookie Factory in Troy their original main focus was on cookies to sell to local supermarket chains, but the business quickly became a full- line bake shop.
The Cookie Factory sells items such as cookies, pies, breads, rolls, pastries, birthday cakes, wedding cakes, desserts, donuts and more at its two retail locations- 520 Congress Street in Troy and 1705 U. S. 9 in Clifton Park. Officials noted that cookies are over 50 percent of the business revenue and that they also sell their products in various retail chains and with other businesses.
