COHOES ARTIST SHOWCASE: The 8th Annual Cohoes Artist Showcase (CAS VIII) takes place at the historic Cohoes Music Hall at 58Remsen Street on June 9-10. Over two dozen artists in multiple media from the tri-county area will present their work in a gallery setting, including the local vet group, Art4Vets. This group uses art as a healing tool. The Showcase runs from 10a.m. – 5p.m. on June 9and noon – 5 p.m. on June 10with an artist reception from 6p.m. – 8p.m. on June 9. It is free and open to the public. GRANT COTTAGE: Author Ronald C. White will deliver the David H. Porter Memorial Lecture at Grant Cottage, 100 Mt. McGregor Road in Wilton, on Saturday, June 9at 3p.m. Entitled “Ulysses S. Grant: A New Vision for the American Leadership” and based on his best-selling biography, “American Ulysses: A Life of Ulysses S. Grant,” White’s lecture offers three episodes from Grant’s life--Civil War, presidency, and the writing of his memoirs in his final illness-to illustrate why in his time Grant was routinely grouped with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln in the pantheon of great American leaders. WALK FOR HOSPICE:
The Community Hospice will hold its 17th Annual WALK for Hospice to benefit patients with serious illness and their families on Saturday, June 9, from 9a.m. – noon (check-in begins at 9 a.m.; walk kicks off at 10:30 a.m.; lunch at 11a.m.) at Siena College, 515Loudon Road., Albany.
