NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. » A Poestenkill woman was arrested after hitting a person with her vehicle Friday and leaving the scene, police said.

Nastassja M. Clark, 30, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, a misdemeanor.

North Greenbush police said officers responded Friday to the intersection of Route 4 and Bloomingrove Drive for a report of a traffic accident. Officers found a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle, police said, and the vehicle had fled the scene. The victim was taken to Albany Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the victim saw Clark’s vehicle strike a guardrail on Exit 8 off of I-90, but Clark continued driv-

ing. When both vehicles reached a traffic light, the victim approached Clark’s window and attempted to ascertain whether she was OK, police said. Getting no response, the victim went to the front of the vehicle. He made eye contact with Clark before she stepped on the gas pedal and struck the victim, police said. Clark then fled the area, police said.

After an investigation, Clark and her vehicle were located a short distance away and she was taken into custody, police said.

Clark was arraigned in Town Court and sent to Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $7,500 bond. She is scheduled to appear again in court in July.

As of Tuesday evening, police said, the victim remains hospitalized but is listed in stable condition.
