Watervliet, Cohoes open city pools
COHOES, N.Y. » Kids living in Cohoes and Watervliet were able to enjoy their first official day of summer vacation by taking a dip in the municipal pools.
With the school year ending last week, kids and their families lined up on Monday outside Lansing Pool on James Street in Cohoes along with Veterans Memorial Swimming Pool, at the corner of Second Avenue and 16th Street in Watervliet, prior to the two municipal pools opening at noon so they could be sure to kick off their vacation in the water.
Lansing’s Pool will be open daily from noon to 7 p.m. for the remainder of the summer. Swimming is free for city residents, with non-residents charged $5.
Veterans Memor ial Swimming Pool will be open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays from noon until 5 p.m., Tuesday
and Fridays from noon until 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from noon until 4 p.m.
The municipal pool in Watervliet is open to residents of the city Monday through Saturday during the summer months, although officials did previously note that if temperatures get too high on Sun- days, that officials may open the pool on certain Sundays.
Officials in Watervliet did note that Resident ID cards are required and can be purchased for $ 5 for adults, $3 for children, and senior citizens can swim for free. The Resident ID cards are issued Monday through Friday from 12- 5 p.m. at the Dome on corner of Second Avenue and 13th Street.
