TROY, N.Y. » Two people from the city were arrested Sunday for stealing televisions from the Brunswick WalMart, with one suspect attempting to hide on the roof of his residence to avoid capture, according to police.

Troopers in Brunswick said they arrested Thomas Gervasio, 29, of Troy, for felony third- degree burglary and misdemeanor criminal possession of stolen property, and conspiracy. Also arrested was Jamie Sawyer, 29, of Troy, for Petit larceny, and conspiracy.

Troopers said that over the past few weeks Gervasio and Sawyer, working as a team, stole several televisions from the Brunswick Wal-Mart.

Officials said t hat Ger vasio was restricted from being on Wal- Mart property from a previously reported theft incident. Police said Gervasio entered Brunswick WalMart while still restricted which resulted in him being charged with burglary. Troopers said they located Gervasio at a residence on 5th Ave in Troy where he attempted to hide on the roof of the building. Troopers said he then jumped off the roof to avoid arrest. After a brief foot chase, he was taken into custody.

Gervasio was additionally charged with resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration. Gervasio was arraigned in the Town of Brunswick Court and remanded to Rensselaer County Jail. No bail was set, pending a hearing. Sawyer was issued an appearance ticket to return to Brunswick Town Court.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges are expected.
