Bike ride set for Aug. 3
WATERFORD, N.Y.» The Water-ford Historical Museum and Cultural Center has partnered with the Albany Bike Coalition and the Bike Barn Cycling & Fitness Ride Group to offer a new family-friendly event for bike riders, a news release said. Wheels to Waterford will be Aug. 3 from 9:30 a.m. un-til 2:30 p.m. at Riverfront Boat Launch at Waterford Histori-cal Museum and Cultural Cen-ter. Participants must register by Tuesday, July 31. The 23-mile ride costs $20 a person. The family-friendly ride will take a scenic trip from Albany to Waterford, follow-ing the water. It's an opportu-nity to participate in an exclu-sive tour with stops at some key canal and local features along the way, finishing up at the Waterford Historical Mu-seum and Cultural Center, the release said. The escorted ride will be
the very flat Mohawk Hudson Bike-Hike and the Black Bridge trails to Waterford, and is mostly “off-road” with some quiet on- street sections in Watervliet, Green Island and Waterford.
In Waterford, riders will follow the Old Champlain Canal towpath to Lock 4
and museum grounds.
The $20 fee covers lunch, Museum Admission and a donation for Albany Bicycle Coalition’s programs.

Use “WATERFORD” as the first word in your subject line. State the number of riders you are registering, and choose a vegetarian or non-vegetarian lunch option for each, the release said. A
parent or guardian must accompany children under age 18 who are capable of this ride. Since this ride involves considerable outlay by the sponsors, please register only if you are committed to attend. If you register and are unable to attend, please notify us before that date.
Participants are asked to bring a helmet, a lock, water, $20 and appropriate riding gear, the release said.
