WATERVLIET, N.Y. » The Sisters of St. Joseph and the Leadership of Shaker Pointe at Carondelet, an active senior living community, recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for the addition of a new building on its campus.

Officials were joined by The Most Reverend Howard J. Hubbard, Bishop Emeritus. The structure, called Parkland at Shaker Pointe, will include 35 Independent Living apartments for seniors, 55 and over.

Officials said Shaker Pointe has become a highly desirable destination for those who want to retain their independence and age in place, while remaining active and engaged in life’s activities that bring them joy.

Shaker Pointe is now venturing into a new season with the groundbreaking of Parkland, a rental option, to extend this vibrant lifestyle to more seniors in the Capital District. Floorplans and pricing will be available later in the fall.

“Now that Shaker Pointe is well established and has grown into a warmand welcoming community, we are excited to begin a new adventure,” said Sisters Kay Ryan and Lauren VanDermark, CSJ, the Executive Team at Shaker Pointe. “Parkland will expand the mission of Shaker Pointe by creating quality housing and access to services for a broader demographic of seniors by offering a rental option not available before.”

Shaker Pointe, which opened its doors in 2011, rests on thirty acres of land and offers many different senior living options, from cottages to apartment homes. Residents enjoy an award winning campus and well-appointed amenities that set the stage for the vibrant and enriched lifestyle with services and programming aimed at remaining independent.

Residents of Parkland will have access to the services and amenities provided by Shaker Pointe.

The building of Parkland at Shaker Pointe is underway, with plans to complete construction by Summer 2019. Kanalstein Danton Associates worked with Shaker Pointe to develop architectural plans, which will be constructed by LECESSE Construction.
