Glanton makes 12 saves to hold Niskayuna scoreless in tie

NYS Sportswrit­ers football poll: In Class AA undefeated Shaker (4- 0) moved up to No. 10 in the latest NewYork State Sportswrit­er poll released Wednesday morning. With the loss at Shaker, Shenendeho­wa (31) dropped to No. 30 in the poll. Guilderlan­d (3-1) and Saratoga Springs (3-1) were both honorable mentions.

In Class A Burnt HillsBalls­ton Lake (4- 0) moved up two spots to No. 4 in Wednesday’s poll.

Queensbury (4- 0) moved up two post to No. 13 with Averill Park (4-0) moving up one spot to No. 21 overall.

Ballston Spa (2-2), Columbia (3-1) and Troy High (3-1) were listed as honorable mentions.

Kicking off the small school poll, Glens Falls (31) fell five spots to No. 7 this week, just ahead of Schalmont (4- 0) at No. 8.

Cobleskill-Richmondvi­lle (2-2), Hudson (3-1), Hudson Falls (3-1) and Schuylervi­lle (2-2) were honorable mentions.

Cambridge/Salem (4- 0) remains atop the Class C poll released Wednesday along with Holy Trinity (31) remaining at No. 6. There was no movement for Stillwater (4- 0) still ranked No. 12 with previously ranked No. 16 Chatham falling out of the top 20 poll.

Hoosick Falls (3-1) and Lake George/ Hadley Luzerne (4- 0) are honorable mentions. Falls would hold strong until Waterford found a bouncing ball in the box and found the back of the net. Soon after Hunter Guertin would strike a nice ball that would find the back of the net. The half ended 3-0. Early in the 2nd half Guertin scored again on another nice strike. Guertin scored again on a PK. Hoosick falls applied pressure at the end of the 2nd half and get goals form Connor Jones and Evan Webster. Nick Houghton assisted on both goals.

CBA 7, SCHENECTAD­Y 0 - Brady Van Epps scored two goals in route to CBA’s win over Schenectad­y Tuesday. Along with Van Epps, Eli D’Onofrio, Keegan Vedder, Josh Huckans, Michael Puccioni, and Drew Decker scored goals for CBA.

BROADALBIN-PERTH 2, GLENS FALLS 0 - Broadalbin-Peth’s win Tuesday over Glens Falls was powered by Brady Goodemote and Ian Dingman’s goals. Goodemote scored in the first half and Dingman scored in the second on Tuesday. Glens Falls is now2-7 and Broadalbin-Perth improves to 5-3. Glens Falls goalkeeper Ben Difiore made seven saves in the loss and Broadalbin­Perth goalkeeper John Marsden made four saves in the shutout win.

SHAKER 4, BALLSTON SPA 1 - Shaker’s match Tuesday consisted of four different goal scorers in route to the 4-1 win. Ian Wu, Ryan Watson, Ryan Pardo, and Jack Acquario each scored for Shaker. Shaker goalkeeper Flaherty made seven saves.

MECHANICVI­LLE 9, GREENWICH 2 - Two goal performanc­es from Jeff Luce, Riley Duesler, and Zach Rapaccioul­o powered Mechanicvi­lle to the seven goal lead Tuesday. Andrew Micare, Chris Ciccarelli, and Jake Cavert each scored one goal for insurance. Greenwich’s Ah Rymph and Charlie Gartner each scored. Greenwich’s Owen Keech made 20 saves in the loss.

BETHLEHEM 4, COLUMBIA 1 - Grace Hotaling had a hat trick in Bethlehem’s win Tuesday afternoon over Columbia. Piper Gregory notched the other Bethlehem goal and Emma Boyagian scored the lone Columbia goal. Columbia goalkeeper Rose Frank made eight saves and Bethlehem goalkeeper Shannon Donnely made four.

STILLWATER 2, HOOSIC VALLEY 0 - Stillwater and Hoosic Valley were tied at 0 at halftime, but Stillwater scored in the second to clinch the win. Brinso and Staie scored Stillwater’s goals. Hoosic Valley goalkeeper Sarah Sheldon made eight saves and Stillwater’s Conroy made four saves.
