Troy - Thomas “Tom” Ostrowski, 75, passed at home October 1, 2018 surrounded by family. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Bruno and Frances Ostarch Ostrowski and the husband of Susan Mangione Ostrowski. Tom was raised in Catskill where he graduated from St. Patrick’s Elementary and High School. He was also a graduate of HVCC and the College of St. Rose, earning a degree in business and computer. Tom was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving for six years as a petty officer second class as a draftsman. He had been employed by GE in the large steam turbine division as an engineer draftsman for 32 years. A communican­t of Sacred Heart Church, he was involved with bingo, money counting and ushering. Tom was also a member of Trout Unlimited Home Waters Chapter and Early Engine Club of Schaghtico­ke, and was an avid fisherman, fly tyer, photograph­er, woodworker, bird house maker and the greatest Pop in the world. Survivors include two daughters, Kristin (James) Caird and Stephanie (John) Shaw; a son, TJ (Tammy) Ostrowski; four grandchild­ren, Abbilyn, Natalie, Emily and Teegan; and by several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Tom was predecease­d by his sister, Barbara. The funeral will be held Thursday at noon at Sacred Heart Church, Troy where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Saint Jean’s Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the church from 11 until 12, prior to the Mass.
