GREEN ISLAND, N.Y. >> A 16-year- old boy was recently arrested after reports that he sexually assaulted several teenage girls in the village, according to Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple.

Apple said investigators have interviewed five young females that said they were sexually assaulted by Carlos X. Quinones, who is a junior at Heatly School in the village of Green Island.

“We believe there may be other [victims] out there,” said Apple.

Apple said the alleged incidents took place at Quinones residence and that the females told police that they had been sexually assaulted by him between February and June 2018.

Officials said they charged Quinones as an adult and charged him with multiple felonies including third- degree rape, first- degree sexual abuse, two counts of first- degree attempted criminal sexual act, and first- degree criminal sexual act.

Apple said Quinones is currently incarcerated at the Albany County Jail on $15,000 bail.

District officials at the Heatly School said that they put the school in a lockout on Tuesday due to the ongoing investigation.

“We had heard that [Quinones] was released on bail, but we don’t know if that’s true or not, because we don’t know if that’s true or not we went into lockout,” said Superintendent Teresa Snyder on Tuesday afternoon. “We have been cooperating with all of the authorities and we’re working really hard to make certain our

children are safe.”

Apple said that if anyone else believes that they are a victim to contact law enforcement.

“You’ve got young individuals that are involved and they’re our properties,” said Apple. “[Wewant] to make sure that they get the necessary medical and emotional counseling. They are young, they’re impressionable and this something that if you don’t get help for,

this is something that could traumatize you for years and years to come.”

Apple said his office is working with the Victim’s Advocates from the Albany County District Attorney’s Office and the sheriff’s office to make sure that the victims are cared for.
