NIGHT OF THE WALKING RED: On Wednesday, October 3, starting at 5p.m., The League of Extraordinary Red Heads will present “Night of the Walking Red VI” at Ryan’s Wake Public House, overlooking the Hudson River at 403River St. in downtown Troy. There will be a sunset group photograph on the deck at 6:15p.m. Entertainment will include endless antics, like naughty ginger bathroom signs, a photo booth with red wigs for unlucky brunettes and blondes, and live music by funk band Oobleck with original tunes like “Ginger Snap.” Admission is free. ANTI-SEMITISM: Jonathan Judaken, Spence L. Wilson Chair in Humanities and Professor of History at Rhodes College, will discuss how antiSemitism, or “Judeophobia,” is an under-theorized field in academia. CYBERBULLYING PANEL: On October 4The College of Saint Rose will host a free Cyberbullying panel for educators, parents, students, and local community members interested in learning how to identify cyberbullying at home or at school, and who to turn to for help. BUTTERFLIES & BOWTIES: The Saratoga Springs chapter of Project HEAL, which aims to provide access to healing for people with eating disorders, hosts the first annual Butterflies and Bowties Eating Disorder Awareness Event at 7p.m. on Friday, October 5, at the National Museum of Dance, 99S. The inland barrens buckmoth is a large beautiful moth with bold black and white wings that flies for only a brief window of time during daylight in the early fall. A species of special concern in New York State, local buckmoths depend on scrub oaks that thrive in this sandy, fire-dependent ecosystem. 11a.m., Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center, 195 New Karner Road, Albany. GRANT COTTAGE: On the final weekend of the season, U.S. Grant Cottage State Historic Site will hold a Path Through History Weekend program celebrating women’s suffrage from 1848to 1920on Saturday, October 6at 1p.m. In the context of the nationwide struggle for suffrage, guests will learn about the issues at stake in the long fight for women’s rights, and how local women (suffragists and anti-suffragists) participated in the fight. Chapman Museum Educator Kim Harvish will present a program enriched by the theater and music performances of Sandi Rhodes, Patricia Dolton and Frieda Toth. The Hill at Muza, located at 379Congress Street, Troy, will party like it’s halfway to Dyngus Day with “Muzapalooza,” a Polish version of Ocktoberfest. Polka and Hits DJ Chris Podeswa will provide music from noon to 5p.m. Popular Massachusetts-based polka band Edie Forman Orchestra, also known as “E.F.O.” will play live music from 5p.m. to 9p.m. Admission is free.
