Latham- Eileen E. John, 93 of Latham, entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on Sunday October 14, 2018. Eileen was born and raised in Troy. She was the daughter of the late John J. and Catherine (Foster) Hardiman. Eileen is the end of an era for the Hardiman family which began in County Galway., Ireland. She was a 1941 graduate of Catholic Central High School in Troy. Eileen attended Mildred Elly School of Business and received a degree in secretaria­l studies. She worked for Tri City Produce in Albany before becoming a Payroll Secretary at the Veteran’s Administra­tion which was located at the Watervliet Arsenal. Eileen was a devoted communican­t of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham where she was a member of the Rosary Alter Society. Eileen enjoyed reading, traveling, taking walks, cooking, baking, and was the proud owner of Border Collies for over forty years. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, great grandmothe­r, and aunt who always put others first . Eileen had been predecease­d by her beloved husband Frank J. John whom she had married in June 1951. They had 59 cherished years of marriage together before his passing in March 2011. Eileen is also predecease­d by her cherished sister, Mary Teresa Cooney, her brother-in-law, Francis Cooney, and her beloved brother, the Reverend John J. Hardiman. Eileen is survived by her four loving children William J. (Jean) John of Colonie, Eileen Maikels of Guilderlan­d, Robert M. John of Latham, and Thomas P. (Faith) John of Richmond, VA. She also leaves behind eight cherished grandchild­ren Katherine (Tim) Adams , Christophe­r and Gregory John, Allen (Fiona)and Mary Beth Maikels, Charlotte and Mallory John, and Colleen (David) Krukiel, and her adored great-grandchild­ren, Jack and Graham Adams. She is also survived by her seven cherished nieces and nephews: Jack, Colleen, Billy, Brendan, Erin, Eileen, and Michael, their spouses and children. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday October 17, 2018 from 4:00 –7:00 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Eileen’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday October 18 at 9:30 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Fr. John Tallman officiatin­g. Interment will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Troy.
