SECTION 2 BOYS SOCCER TOURNEY SEEDS ANNOUNCED

To the champions go the spoils and the top seeds in the boys soccer tournament.

All five league or divisional champions received No. 1 seeds in the Section 2 boys soccer tournament, released today by the boys soccer committee at the NYSPHSAA offices.

Suburban Council champions, Christian Brothers Academy, Foothills Council champs Queensbury, Colonial Council Schalmont, Adirondack League overall champion Lake George and Adirondack League East Division champion, Fort Ann, were all the top seeds in their respective classes.

If there was anything coming out of the closed- door seeding meetings it was the 22-team Class C bracket with play-in games scheduled Tuesday afternoon and preliminar­y contests set for Thursday for those winners.

No. 22 Canajohari­e will travel to face No. 11 BerneKnox-Westerlo, No. 21 Hoosick Valley will travel to take on No. 12 Fort Plain with No. 20 Hoosick Falls facing No. 13 Mekeel Christian as part of Tuesday’s first-in, first- out contests.

Class AA remains a 12-team bracket with No. 1 CBA, No. 2 Albany High, No. 3 Bethlehem and No. 4 Shenendeho­wa all awaiting preliminar­y round winners on Saturday and Monday night.

No. 12 Columbia will travel

to face No. 5 Shaker 7 p.m. Thursday, No. 10 LaSalle travels to No. 7 Niskayuna for a night game and No. 11 Colonie travels north to face No. 6 Saratoga Springs 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

In Class A No. 1 Queensbury, No. 2 Albany Academy, No. 3 Averill Park, No. 4 South Glens Falls and No. 5 Mohonasen have first-round byes.

On Wednesday, No. 9 Lansingbur­gh will travel to No. 8 Scotia for a 3 p.m. tilt and No. 11 Troy High will travel to face No. 6 Ballston Spa.

No. 16 Cohoes will host No. 17 Fonda-Fultonvill­e Tuesday afternoon to open the Class B tournament.

On Wednesday, No. 4 Mechanicvi­lle will host No. 13 Catskill, No. 3 Schuylervi­lle will host No. 14 Hudson and No. 10 Tamarac will travel to take on No. 7 Coxsackie-Athens, all at 7 p.m.

In Class C two private schools face-off in a play-in contest as No. 17 Catholic High will travel to face No. 16 Saratoga Central Catholic Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. along with the three previous high-seeded playin tilts.

The Class AA and A semifinals will be played at Colonie High School. The Class B and C semifinals will be played at Mohonasen’s turf facility and the Class D semifinals will be played at LaSalle.

All Section 2 boys soccer finals will be played at Colonie High School on their grass facility. The NYSPHSAA finals will be played Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 10 and 11 at Middletown High School.
