Francis J. Rafferty formerly of State Street passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018. He was 85. Born in Troy on January 17, 1933, son of the late Joseph and Florence ( Clairmont) Rafferty. He is the husband of the late Joan M. Rafferty whom he married October 23, 1954. A veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Rafferty served during the Korean War. He owned and operated Scriven Duplicatin­g Service in Valley Falls with his wife, purchasing the business in 1965. He enjoyed wood working and home remodeling. Survivors include his children, Colleen (John) Allsop of Clifton Park, Michael (Michele) Rafferty of Cohoes, Donna (Eric) Moore of Schaghtico­ke, Kevin (Vicki) Rafferty and Brian (Lee Lee) Rafferty both of Valley Falls and Lynn (Craig) Wilson of Schaghtico­ke, his 9 beloved grandchild­ren; Michael (Jenn) Rafferty, Ann-Marie (Chris) Glover, Valerie Rafferty, Becca (Ian) Lloyd, Aimee and Joe Moore, Nolan and William Rafferty and Jonathan Wilson, 5 great grandchild­ren, Rylee and Ryder Rafferty, Carson, Grant and Chase Glover as well as his sisters, Doris Ehrlich and Agnes McLaughlin and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predecease­d by his siblings, Kenneth Rafferty and Teresa Nielsen. Relatives and friends may call from 3-7:00pm on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghtico­ke. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Friday, October 19 at Transfigur­ation Parish, Main Street, Schaghtico­ke. Burial with military honors will be in the Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylervi­lle. The family would like to thank the Brookdale Fillmore Pond and BAYADA Home Health for their exceptiona­l care for Francis.
