Troy High jumps up in latest poll

Shaker High School (70) retained its spot at No. 9 in the latest Class AA New York State Sportswrit­er poll released Wednesday afternoon. Shenendeho­wa (6-1) moved up two spots to No. 19 with Saratoga Springs (6-1) moving up three spots to No. 22 prior to the battle between the two rivals Friday night in Clifton Park.

In Class A Queensbury (7- 0) moved up three spots to No. 8 after defeating former top-10 squad Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (6-1) Friday night. The Spartan fell 14 places to No. 18 in the current poll. Meanwhile, Troy High (6-1) moved up seven spots to No. 20 and Averill Park (6-1) fell nine places to No. 28 after the Warriors lost to the Flying Horses last week.

In the small school division in Class B, Glens Falls (5-2) moved up one spot to No. 12, along with Schuylervi­lle (5-2) to No. 13 as Cobleskill-Richmondvi­lle (4-2) leaped into the rankings at No. 21. Schalmont (4-2) fell from 11 spots to No. 27 in this week’s poll.

In Class C (7-0), Cambrige retained it’s No. 1 ranking, along with No. 4 Holy Trinity (6-1) and No. 8 Stillwater (6-1). Hoosick Falls (6-1) leaped six spots to No. 17 as Chatham (6-1) fell 10 spots to No. 21.

in Class D, Warrensbur­g (6-1) moved up two spots to No. 7, again the lone Section 2 team ranked.
