Saratoga Comic Con set for next month
Biannual event will be held at Saratoga Springs City Center
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. >> Saratoga Comic Con is returning next month with lots in store for popculture and comic book fans.
The eighth Saratoga Comic Con, held biannually, is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18 at the Saratoga Springs City Center in downtown Saratoga Springs, with VIP early access beginning at 9:30 a.m. each day.
This two- day event will feature celebrities, comic book artists and cosplay groups along with gaming tournaments, live podcasts, movie props, and other pop culture fun.
David Yost, the original blue ranger from Power Rangers, is one of the festival’s special celebrity guests this November, along with former wrestling manager Jimmy Hart, former wrestling star Tatanka, Brian Harnois from Ghost Hunters; writer and producer of Jackie Chan Adventures Jeff Kline, Tigger and Pooh, GI JOE Renegades and Bill Diamond, a puppeteer and producer for Jim Henson.
Some top comic book artists at the con will include Larry Hama, who is one of the creators of the G.I. Joe comics, Philip Mcnulty, Richard Ferguson, Charles Barnett III, and Jay Mooers.
Professional cosplayers like Chelsea Von Chastity, Myratheon Cosplay, Jennard Cosplays, Lady Bridget Cosplay, Coach Moses, Hudson Valley Ghostbusters, Inc, The Resident Evil Umbrella Corp., Springfield Hive Group and The Montreal X-MEN will all be showing off their costumes and cosplay skills throughout the event.
The popular cosplay contests, judged by the professionals, will take place both days of the festival. Saturday’s adult contest is for those 17 and older and Sunday’s youth contest will be for ages 16 and younger. Contestants can sign up at the con for no fee.
Additionally, the show floor will include vendors and artist dealers from all over the world, gaming, Super Smash Bros. tournaments, Magic: The Gathering Table Top Gaming, panels, events, tattooing, live podcasts, The Resident Evil Umbrella Corp. Car, the return of the 1966 Batmobile, a bounce house, and more.
Once again, Saratoga Comic Con will highlight the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention, and donation for the charity will be collected at the event.
Saratoga Comic Con is for all ages. “It’s a family-friendly event,” said organizer Samuel J. Chase, adding that the con helpS support the community. “Growing community is a big deal to us.”

Online Speed Pass Tickets cost $20 for Saturday, $15 for Sunday or $30 for the weekend. VIP tickets are available for $60 and $80.
Family/Friend Ticket discount packs as well as military, student or senior discount tickets can only be purchased online.
Tickets will also be for sale at the door on the days of the event at regular price, but no online specials can be purchased at the door. All children ages six and
younger are free.
A Saratoga Comic Con after-party is scheduled for Saturday evening from 6 to 10 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the Saratoga Springs City Center, catered by local company Distinctive Catering. Admission is $10 per person, or free for those who purchase VIP tickets.
