Troy woman arrested for possessing a stolen vehicle in New Paltz
She led police on chase
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. >> New York State Police said they recently arrested a 24-year- old Troy woman for possessing a stolen vehicle in the town of New Paltz.
On October 29, at approximately 8:16 p.m., State Police said they received a (BOLO) be on the lookout for a reported stolen vehicle in the area of I- 87, town of New Paltz.
Police said they arrested Marcia Foster, 24, of Troy.
State Police said they observed the vehicle and attempted to effect a traffic stop, but Foster sped away and a short pursuit was initiated.
After a short distance police said the pursuit was terminated by State Police for safety reasons.
Police said Foster’s vehicle continued to flee recklessly and crashed the vehicle a short time later.
Foster was then taken into custody without further incident.
Police said she was transported and processed .at SP Newburgh, where she was subsequently charged with:
• Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th degree; a Class E Felony
• Reckless Endangerment 2nd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
• Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 2nd degree; a Unclassified Misdemeanor
• Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
• Unlawful Possession of Marihuana; a Violation
• Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree; a Class A Misdemeanor
• Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations
Police said Foster was arraigned in the Town of New Paltz Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of unknown bail.
A return court date of October 30, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. has been set in the Town of New Paltz Court.
