Voter turnout

Voter turnout in the 2014 mid-term elections was the lowest in over 70 years, with just 36.4 percent of eligible voters casting ballots. Since 1964 when turnout was close to 49 percent, voter participation had been dropping. One of the most prevalent reasons for the lack of voter turnout is the inability of many folks to get to the polls on Election Day.

This year the NAACP has launched a “Power of 5 Campaign”, which includes a charge to get voters to the polls by asking people to “take leadership of their own spheres of influence” by ensuring that 5 people are able to get to the polls on Election Day, November 6th.

In Rensselaer County we are committed to increasing voter turnout in this year’s midterms. We encourage all voters to join our campaign to help 5 of your friends, relatives or neighbors get to the polls next Tuesday.

The future belongs to you. Make it happen.

We also want it to be known that the Rensselaer County/Troy Branch of the NAACP is in total support of and concerned for the safety of our Jewish brothers and sisters, we stand with them in this troublesome time now, in the past and in the future.

Support for Tistrya Houghtling for New York State Assembly

As a small business owner in Columbia County, I am writing in support of Tistrya Houghtling for New York State Assembly in the 107th District.

Tistrya is hardworking and driven just like many of the small business owners I know.

She understands many of the difficult issues small business owners face in New York Stateand how important successful businesses are in making our communities thrive and grow stronger.

Tistrya will be an outspoken voice for us in Albany to bring the beneficial changes we need not only for new start up businesses but also helping thoses of us who have been in business for many years.

On November 6th, Vote Tistrya! Linda Hursa Angels Trumpet Flowers & Gifts New Lebanon, NY
