Schodack Troopers arrest Albany woman for Leandra’s Law

SCHODACK, N.Y. >> Troopers said they arrested Amanda L. Martin, 31, of Albany, at 5:30 p. m., Nov. 11, in the Town of Schodack and charged her with Aggravated DWI, Leandra’s

Law and Endangerin­g the Welfare of a Child.

Troopers said they received a call about a vehicle driving erraticall­y on SR- 9 in the Town of Schodack. The caller reported the vehicle swerving all over the road and nearly causing several crashes.

Troopers responded and subsequent­ly conducted a traffic stop.

Upon speaking with Martin, State Police said Martin displayed bloodshot glassy eyes and slurred speech.

Police said standardiz­ed Field Sobriety Tests were given and Martin was arrested for DWI.

Additional­ly, troopers say a 10-year- old child was in the vehicle at the time of the arrest.

Troopers say Martin gave a breath sample resulting in a .19% blood alcohol concentrat­ion. Martin was processed and charged with the following:

• Driving While Intoxicate­d; an Unclassifi­ed Misdemeano­r

• Aggravated DWI; an Unclassifi­ed Misdemeano­r

• Aggravated DWI with a child in the vehicle ( Leandra’s Law); a Class E Felony

• Endangerin­g the Welfare of a Child; a Class A Misdemeano­r • Traffic Violations Martin was released and is expected to appear in court on Nov. 14, 2018.
