RPI and Husson meet in first round

TROY - The No. 23 RPI Engineer’s Football team (8-1; 4-1 in Liberty League) hosts Husson University (8-2; 6- 0 ECFC) on Saturday at Noon at East Campus Stadium after dropping the Dutchman Shoes Trophy to Union last week 34-10.

Last week’s loss kept the Engi- neer’s from completing their unbeaten season and was the Engineer’s first loss at home dating back to September 22, 2016, ending their nine game home game winning streak.

RPI and Husson have never played each other and only share one common opponent: Union.

With RPI’s loss to Union in mind, Husson fell to Union 30-7 back on September 1.

Statistica­lly, Husson is pow- ered by Senior Quarterbac­k Cory Brandon. Brandon has completed 158 passes on 243 attempts for 2247 yards. Brandon has also tallied 26 touchdowns and thrown only six intercepti­ons in route to averaging 224.7 yards per game. Brandon’s efficiency rating was 173.1 at the end of the regular season.

Other key offensive weapons for Husson as the regular season comes to an end was sophomore running back Miece Loureiro (944 yards on 163 carries, nine touchdowns) and receivers Kyle Gaudet (57 receptions for 938 yards, 12 touchdowns), Ty Bassett (27 receptions, 336 yards, three touchdowns) and tight end Keyshaun Robinson (29 receptions for 423 yards, seven touchdowns).

Husson averaged 468.6 yards per game while defensivel­y allowing 266.9 yards a game. Their
