BACKYARD BIRDS: Fluff up your feathers and come to Mud Creek Environmental Learning Center to create your own bird feeder from recycled materials. By putting a feeder in your yard you can experience the birds of winter right outside your window. CAPITAL DISTRICT HUMANIST SOCIETY: Former state administrative law judge (ALJ) Frank S. Robinson discusses “Consciousness, Self and Free Will,” based partly on Daniel Dennett’s book “Freedom Evolves.” Robinson’s talk addresses such issues as what it really means to have or feel you have a self and whether neuroscience reveals the self and free will to be illusions. Gaynor was a Surgical Technician in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning medals and awards including the Asiatic-Pacific Service medal, the American Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. After his service, he worked for the N.Y.S. Department of Motor Vehicles, served as a manager and coach for the Troy Central Little League, and as a Democratic committeeman for Troy’s 13th Ward.
