Nassau woman accused of stealing from deceased acquaintance
SCHODACK, N.Y. >> After a lengthy investigation, the New York State Police in Schodack said they arrested a 53-yearold Nassau, New York woman on multiple charges.
On Tuesday, State Police announced that they arrested Diane E. Ferry on Feb. 13 after their investigation.
Authorities said the initial complaint was received on October 24, 2018.
Police said the complainant reported numerous fraudulent financial transactions on the accounts of a now-deceased family member.
The total amount of the transactions was in excess of $2,000.
Officials said the investigation determined that Ferry, who was an acquaintance of the deceased, utilized the personal financial services account information of the decedent to unlawfully obtain goods and funds in three juris- dictions.
Police said Ferry was taken into custody and charged with the following:
• First- degree identity theft; a class D felony – one count
• Fourth- degree grand larceny; a class E felony – 9 counts
• Third-degree unlawful possession of personal ID; a class A misdemeanor – 5 counts
• Third- degree identity theft; a class A misdemeanor – 8 counts
Officials said Ferry received appearance tickets returnable to the Town of North Greenbush Court on February 19, 2019, and the Town of East Greenbush Court on February 21, 2019.
She was arraigned in the Town of Nassau Court and released to appear in court at a later date.
